Austin College women’s basketball goes back to at least 1926. Also still digging. AC went coed in 1918, so many women sports are likely a product of the roaring 1920s. We’ll see what we can find for the Lady Roos!
The Austin College men’s basketball team journeyed to Waxahachie in February 1925 to take on rival Trinity. The Roos prevailed, 35 to 26, as reported by the local Waxahachie paper.
But the column next to the game is the fun section, which I got a kick out of. A certain NY Yankees star (with photo) is preparing for the 1925 regular season. He is, uh, “considerably overweight”, but has a very Bambino plan for getting back down to his fighting weight. 🙂 Good stuff.
