So I’m an AC baseball guy. That’s where I spent most of my time (in the stands, not the field), and those are the fellas I spent the most time with. So it makes sense to start off with a baseball story.
We are all familiar with baseball royalty in Texas. The Longhorns. Six national championships. Gustafson. Garrido. Clemens. Countless SWC & Big XII championships.
Has AC baseball ever bested the Horns?
You bet!
April 22, 1909: AC 5, UT 1 in Austin
March 25, 1910: AC 3, UT 2 in Austin
March 30, 1911: AC 3, UT 1 in Austin
The 1911 game write up was featured in the Galveston Daily News. B.A. Lowry got the win for the Roos, and had his photo taken for the paper.
Other news of the day? A Wright Bros. staffer flew 28 miles.
1911 was the first year for Horns head coach Billy Disch (as in “Disch-Falk”).
